Once upon a time, I worked at a nightclub. On occasion I would be assigned an "outside shift," which meant that I stood around in the cold with another dude for about an hour, shivering between the glass walls of a phone booth, watching that other guy chain smoke.

If I hadn't met my wife at that club 10 years ago, I'd wish I'd never heard of the place.

I drew this during a lull at the library. In a warm room. Where nobody was smoking.

Recently, I've been drawing on a lot of scraps at work. I imagine that the Grand Prize in question was a dollar-bin toy of some variety. The contest involved reading, numerical estimates, or voting for one's favorite "literary dog."

At least, those were the recent contests. So things go in the children's section of the local library.

Any jobs in that library for me? Will uproot the family if the pay is better than where I am!

The pay is minimum, and most city governments in the states don't hire anyone full-time unless they absolutely must. But the work gets me out of the house a bit and gives Sara and I a little (and I mean microscopic) boost in the accounts.

I've just applied for two college designer jobs. I don't think it involves actually designing colleges though.
